my agenda is this…

Almost but not quite 2017. I often forget what year it is because I work on projects that are in production a year ahead of the actual year and I get confused when the new year finally arrives – I’ve been living in 2017 for months.

I was recently at Chapter’s and was so happy to see their daily planner display – like a kid in a candy shop, it was just too much excitement. ban.do had this one, for half the price (SALE!), and I could not resist. img_6181Fun, right? In fact, their actual motto is we are serious about fun and I feel like my new planner is going to live up to it!

Here are some more pics from their website. Let me know how you plan to plan out 2017! 825466938489_hi

psst. I am a 12-month’r and do not understand the reasoning for a 17-month planner. Since I am still happily using my current 2016 planner, I will start this one in January and rip out the 5 previous months (I can’t handle seeing all of those blank pages). Anyone else do this?

patterns and sparkle (part 1)

Last Wedding Wednesday I launch the Navy by the Sea wedding I am working on and as mentioned, Navy will be the primary colour but gold accents will be included in the decor.

I like to start by looking at patterns, illustrations, fabric and wallpaper for inspiration and here are some I found that could work great for this event: pattern-1

I just can’t get over indigo! Look at these tables! tablesThese images may be a bit too moody for the Navy by the Sea wedding but I love the simplicity and affordability of option ‘O’. Tables at weddings are usually covered in white linen but imagine how amazing this would look… Plus, it would be pretty easy to hand-dye the tablecloths navy.

As for decor, I don’t think you need to go too crazy when you have the Atlantic Ocean as your backdrop. A nice table arrangement, some great flowers and good lighting are all you need to make the event special. Next week I’ll source affordable decor you can buy or DIY.

indigo girl

I’ve been seeing a lot of indigo Shibori tie-dye this summer and it’s not a bad thing – I like blue.

See … it is everywhereindigo

Rather than filling my wardrobe with stuff from the stores, I decided to make my own. It’s summer in Nova Scotia (#nssummer) and although tie-dying was not on my summer to-do list, it should of been!

The last time I tie-dyed was at summer camp – I think it was hippy day? Let’s say it was hippy day. kidston

This time I didn’t dress up but I did stock up on supplies:

  • Bucket
  • White tees and linens
  • Twine
  • Elastic bands
  • A paper towel tube
  • Gloves
  • Dye
  • Cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Clothesline!

DSC_0054David joined in and helped and I must say, the patterns really worked … but

… The good news is I am NOT a How To / DIY blog… so rather than telling you what I did and how I failed, you can just go to Pinterest and find patterns – like this site I used – and try it yourself.

… The better news is I took these pics right after I dyed the clothes… when I put everything in the wash, the blue ran and my whites are no longer white. Boo. I thought I followed instructions but I must of missed a step. I’d check, but I recycled the instructions and am too lazy to Google my mistake. Whatev, it was fun and the clothes still look okay. And, like I said, I got the pictures before everything turned blue (both literally and emotionally). In a world of Instagramming perfection, it’s big of me to admit the unfiltered outcome.

Womp womp.
