Hey y’all, Forever Young had its first meeting and I think it went well! Thanks for all of your interest and especially, a big thank you to those who came out. Here’s a recap:
- Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell was our first book
- Jodie, Heather, Michelle, Hollie, Jenna, Kristin, Anna, Jen and I were in attendance
- We ALL read the book!!!
- We all liked the book but were bothered by a few things… mostly Cath’s lack of Starbuck knowledge… you know, for being a city girl
- We had protein bars and a few other appetizers plus wine of course!
So what’s up next?
We decided to go with a seasonal book but more importantly, something that’s available in paperback – not too pricy to purchase if you can’t reserve a copy. Turns out Fangirl has a lot of fans (the reserve list at the library was long). Lesson learnt.
So book #2 is Let It Snow: Three Holiday Romances by: John Green, Lauren Myracle and Maureen Johnson
“Sparkling white snowdrifts, beautiful presents wrapped in ribbons, and multicolored lights glittering in the night through the falling snow. A Christmas Eve snowstorm transforms one small town into a romantic haven, the kind you see only in movies. Well, kinda. After all, a cold and wet hike from a stranded train through the middle of nowhere would not normally end with a delicious kiss from a charming stranger. And no one would think that a trip to the Waffle House through four feet of snow would lead to love with an old friend. Or that the way back to true love begins with a painfully early morning shift at Starbucks. Thanks to three of today’s bestselling teen authors—John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle—the magic of the holidays shines on these hilarious and charming interconnected tales of love, romance, and breathtaking kisses.”
Sounds good right? I hope you take the time to give it a read… perhaps by a fire, wearing wool socks and sipping on hot chocolate while the snow falls and Mariah Carey sings Christmas carols in the background. That’s my plan.
The next meeting will be in January and Jill / Anna are hosting.
It was fun to catch up with friends and discuss the book (and maybe a little gossip) … but I also think it is best when everyone reads the book. Sorry guys, next meeting you better come prepared because this club takes young adult literature very serious.
psst. If you like what you’re reading, please subscribe and share. xomeg

Anna told me it was a great first meeting. I LOVE the idea of a young adult book club. Wish I was still living in Halifax!
