Summer halftime folks.
It is August so … I think it is a good time to pull out your summer must-do list and evaluate your progress. Back at the beginning of June I wrote mine here and now let’s see what’s left.
host a back yard social- bike to the Seaport Market
- swim in a lake
swim in the oceanswim in the river(Wallace River)- mow the lawn
paddle a canoe(on the Wallace River)- drive a motor boat
- go in a sail boat
go for a run then jump in the water right after(Wallace River)- stroll through the Public Gardens
sit around a camp fire(at an engagement party)go on a road trip(Cabot Trail Relay)- hike cape split
hike the small loop of the bluff with the boys(although 10km is no small feat for a 5 & 6 year old)go for ice cream- go strawberry picking
make strawberry jammake strawberry shortcake- eat from a food truck
get a pedicure- have dinner and drinks on an outdoor patio
- watch an outdoor movie
danceplant a vegetable garden- run in
a race…or two… or three (Bluenose, Cabot Trail Relay) go to a weddingbuy a sundressgo tubing on the wallace rivermake potato salad- accidentally get a sun burn
get a bug bite- play corn hole
- play croquette
- play washer toss
eat peas from the podhave a picnicsee Cape Bretonlay in the grass- roll down a hill
buy patio furnitureeat a popsicle- leave the province
build a sand castlewatch David play soccereat lobster(post Cabot Trail Relay reception)swim with Henry across the riverwalk on a sand bar- plant a hydrangea tree
- work outside
- drink my morning coffee outside
sleep with the window open and the fan onhave friends stop by unannouncedtry a new local restaurant… or two … or threewatch a paradehear bagpipeswalk on a beach- night swim
- make smores and eat them
make rhubarb crisp with the rhubarb from the yard- make tomato sauce with the tomatoes from my garden
- catch up to Sons of Anarchy
- read a magazine outside
wear heelswear jean shortsrun on the Trans Canada Trail- sleep in a tent
stay in a hotel(Cabot Trail Relay)have a yard salego to a yard sale- paint the foundation of the house
get blonde highlights- register for a fall race
walk along the Halifax waterfrontmorning run along the Halifax water front- ride the ferry
bike with David further than 3 blocksget muddyget sandyplay hooky from work- make devilled eggs
lay in a hammock- have cut flowers on the coffee table all summer (so far, so good!)
- hill train one day every week (so far, so good!)
- go to Cyclone 5 times in one week
- eat corn on the cob
buy a new bathing suitrun through a sprinkler- buy some art
- see Shakespeare by the Sea
- go on a trail run
finish a good book(A House in the Sky)- ride a horse
- mini golf
pick a summer song- visit Kejimkujik National Park
- take David to Citadel Hill (mike did)
- fly a kite
- bike over the MacDonald bridge with David
- have David plan a prefect pre-first-day-of-big-school / end-of-summer-day
Not bad. Not great but I feel like I can check a few more big ones off the list before Labour Day. How about you? Any big summer must dos still left on your summer list? Git’er done well it’s still hot!
